Assignment 1: The skeletal and muscular system

Intro:
My name is Saiful Islam and i am 16 years old. I currently study btec sport level 3 and also
play football as a hobby. Studying btec sport has expanded my knowledge in this subject
and has got me interested in many more linked activities such as becoming a sports
psychologist.

P1:
The skeletal device is made up of the bones of the skeleton and cartilage, ligaments, and
many different connective tissues that join the bones. Bones work together to support the
weight of the body as the muscles are active to take care of body position and to build
controlled specific movements. If the skeleton didn't exist in our body we would miss many
features that help us in our daily lives e.g. standing, running and playing. The skeleton has
many bones (206) in an adults body that provide 5 key attributes to help us live. These
include providing support, storing minerals and lipids, producing blood cells, protecting body
organs and lastly providing movement. Our organs are protected by ribs making a cage that
shields the heart and lungs, and the pelvis which also gives support to keep the bladder safe
as it is part of the intestines. Our body relies on the skeletal system as it gives organized
support all around the body up to our needs. Independent bones along with set of bones
supply a structure for the attachment of soft tissues such as muscles and organs e.g. the
heart. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zq3sbk7/revision/2

Axial and appendicular skeleton:
Our body bones is basically split into two sections including the axial skeleton which could
be remembered as the interior of the body and the appendicular which include of the limbs
and girdles e.g. the shoulders.

The axial is known for its 2 function including
sheltering as it is located in the middle of the
skeleton and has the role of shielding the key
organs. The other function is that it creates an
exterior for the fitting of muscles The axial
skeleton has 80 bones located in different parts
of the interior body including the skull, vertebral
column and thoracic cage. In the skull there are 29 bones, 8 which are located in the cranial
and 14 which is our facial bones. However there are another additional 7 bones including the
hyoid bone and the ear ossicles which are small bones found in the middle ear. The
vertebral column which is located under the ribs includes of 24 bones, each called a
vertebra, the sacrum and coccyx. The thoracic cage which is also known as the rib cage
consists of the 12 pairs of ribs, and the sternum which is the tear down bone of the anterior
chest. As there are 206 bones in the human body more than half (126) is the key that makes
up the appendicular skeleton.
