INTRODUCTION
I currently work within an educational environment where my role involves both
teaching and leadership responsibilities. On a daily basis, I am responsible for
planning and delivering learning activities, supporting learner development,
managing classroom dynamics, and contributing to broader school or institutional
goals. In addition to my teaching duties, I play an active role in supporting
colleagues, participating in meetings, assisting with curriculum implementation, and
contributing to decision making processes that affect teaching and learning. This
position places me at the centre of both instructional practice and educational
leadership.
The purpose of this e portfolio reflective journal is to document my leadership
journey within my working environment while engaging critically with contemporary
approaches to educational leadership and management. The e portfolio serves as a
structured space where theory and practice come together, allowing me to reflect
honestly on my experiences, actions, and growth as an emerging educational leader.
It provides evidence of how leadership theories studied in HED4812 have been
applied to real challenges, while also highlighting areas where I am still developing.
Through reflection, I am able to evaluate my leadership decisions, identify strengths,
and recognise areas that require improvement.
This e portfolio is significant for my professional development because it promotes
continuous self reflection and purposeful learning. It encourages me to move beyond
routine practice and to think more deeply about my leadership role, my values, and
the impact of my actions on others. By documenting challenges and responses, I am
able to build a clearer understanding of my leadership style and how it aligns with
contemporary leadership principles.
During my leadership journey, I encountered several key challenges within my
working environment. These included managing resistance to change, supporting
colleagues under pressure, and balancing administrative demands with teaching
responsibilities. These challenges required me to reflect critically, draw on leadership
theory, and adapt my approach in order to respond effectively. This journal captures
that journey of challenge, learning, and growth.
