Educational Problem: Qualitative Data
An educational problem I see frequently is the lack of student engagement and
motivation. Some of my students this year have been reluctant to participate in classroom
discussions, complete task in school or at home, or attempt new things on their own.
Advantage and Disadvantage: Qualitative Data A-1
One advantage to using and collecting qualitative data to address student motivation is
that I will gain some insight from parents regarding their child’s overall motivation at home as

classroom. Using qualitative data to gain a better understanding or these underlying reasons
and motivation I can better serve my students (Cardinal, 2020). By gaining knowledge about
where at student comes from and why they act a certain way is an important part of a
classroom environment.
A disadvantage of using qualitative data for this problem would be the fact that parents
may opt to not participate or may not be fully transparent about issues affecting their children.
Another concern might be that these are students who are between the age of seven and eight
and may not truly really know why they act in such a manor. This lack of communication could
hinder the underlying reasons for the lack of motivation.
Appropriateness: Qualitative Data A-2
The use of qualitative data would be most appropriate here since it’s used to
understand the underlying reasons that affect a student’s behavior, which can directly relate to
