OG 1 – Legal English
1. My score was 21/25, which is pretty good. I expected the score to be good because I
think my English is good.
2. The greatest challenge during this course will definitely be the talking in English
during class. I often forget to speak English.
3. I have no questions. I would like to do debate 5.
1. The European Union was created because of the first and second world war. In 1950
there was a cooperation for free movement of coles and iron ore between Belgium,
France, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and Italy. This was a big success. 7
years later they established the European Economic Community. Also in 1957, the
Treaty of Rome was signed. In 1967 they were merged into one (merger treaty), the
European Community. In 2009 it became the European Union. Over the years more
and more European countries want to be a part of the European Union.
2. The objectives of the European Union are to promote peace, European values and
the well-being of EU citizens, offering freedom, security and justice, without internal
borders. Article 2 and 3.1 TEU (VEU)
3. For me the European Union is relevant because of the open borders for goods and
services, travelling and also the same currencies.
