5. Breast Palpation
Answer 1.) Place pt supine with small pillow under side being palpated
2.) Use flat pad of 3 fingers in a rotary motion
3.) Start at tail of spence and follow a vertical strip pattern
Use light, medium, and deep palpation
6. Older adult consideration Breasts
Answer -Breasts may feel more granular
-Nipples may be retracted
-Inframammary ridge is easily palpable
-Decreased breast size and elasticity (droopy/saggy)
