Incentive Zoning - Correct answer-is intended to provide a reward-based system to

encourage development that meets established urban development goals.[13]

Typically, the method establishes a base level of limitations and a reward scale to

allows a high degree of flexibility, but can be complex to administer.

Aristotle - Good City - Correct answer-He called Hippodamus the Father of City

Planning

Aristotle (384-322 BCE) describes the happy life intended for man by nature as

one lived in accordance with virtue, and, in his Politics, he describes the role that

politics and the political community must play in bringing about the virtuous life in

the citizenry

Aristotle begins the Politics by defining its subject, the city or political partnership.

Doing so requires him to explain the purpose of the city. (The Greek word for city

is polis, which is the word that gives us English words like "politics" and "policy").

Aristotle says that "It is clear that all partnerships aim at some good, and that the

,partnership that is most authoritative of all and embraces all the others does so

particularly, and aims at the most authoritative good of all. This is what is called

the city or the political partnership". In Greece in Aristotle's time the important

political entities were cities, which controlled surrounding territories that were

farmed. It is important to remember that the city was not subordinate to a state or

nation, the way that cities are today; it was sovereign over the territory that it

controlled. To convey this, some translations use the word "city-state" in place of

the world "polis." Although none of us today lives in a polis , we should not be too

quick to dismiss Aristotle's observations on the way of life of the polis as irrelevant

to our own political partnerships.

The citizens of a political community are partners, and as with any other

partnership they pursue a common good. In the case of the city it is the most

authoritative or highest good. The most authoritative and highest good of all, for

Aristotle, is the virtue and happiness of the citizens, and the purpose of the city is

to make it possible for the citizens to achieve this virtue and happiness.

The Buffalo Commons: What is the name of the proposal that involves tearing

down the farm fences in the Great Plains and replanting native grass and restore

,the buffalo? - Correct answer-1. A result of the population decline in the Great

Plains

2. Tearing down of the farm fences

3. replant native grass and restore the buffalo

is a conceptual proposal[clarification needed] to create a vast nature preserve by

returning 139,000 square miles (360,000 km2) of the drier portion of the Great

Plains to native prairie, and by reintroducing the American bison ("buffalo"), that

once grazed the shortgrass prairie. The proposal would affect ten states: (Montana,

Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, North Dakota, South

Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas.

The Poppers propose that a significant portion of the region be gradually shifted

from farming and ranching use. They envision an area of native grassland, of

perhaps 10 or 20 million acres (40,000 or 80,000 km²) in size. One way to achieve

this would be through voluntary contracts between the Forest Service and Plains

farmers and ranchers, in which owners would be paid the value of what they would

have cultivated over the next 15 years. In the meantime, they would be required to

plant and reestablish native Shortgrass prairie grasses and forbs, according to a

Forest Service-approved program. At the end of the period, the Forest Service

would purchase their holdings, while granting owners a 40-acre (160,000 m2)

, homestead. Since their initial article in 1987, the Poppers have acknowledged that

many other parties have very important roles to play. They do not see the federal

government as central as they first did.

period.

United States Department of Defense leaders use their Planning, Programming,
