and context of the conversation taking place)
Connotation Ans: the implied meaning of words and ideas, the
speakers must have the knowledge of the culture to understand an
expression's implied meaning. (Ex. It's raining cats and dogs not
real cats and dogs just a figure of speech)
Denotation Ans: literal meaning of words and ideas
