Ratification of the US Constitution

AP GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS NOTES STUDY

The ratification of the U.S. Constitution was the process
from 1787–1788 in which the states debated and approved
the new framework of government. Federalists supported
the stronger national government it created, while
Anti-Federalists worried about individual and states’ rights.
Ratification succeeded in 1788, and the Bill of Rights was
soon added to address remaining concerns.
