Open chest wounds
Dress the wound with a sterile pad or wrap and apply direct pressure to stop the
bleeding if there is rapid blood loss. Use extreme care so that the dressing does not
become saturated with blood. Check if there is more than one wound for the dressing
to be applied.
To apply dressing remove clothing (leave stuck clothing). Trim the dressing making
sure it is larger than the wound. Seal the wound to prevent blood loss (apply pressure
if needed). Never remove objects from the wound.
If a patient falls unconscious or is non-responsive without a pulse, call 911 and
perform CPR.

Treatment
1. Stop bleeding with the dressing
2. Apply pressure
3. Clean would thoroughly
4. Apply ointment
5. Provide pain reliever such as Advil
6. Rewrap the wound to keep from infection
7. Keek medical attention if the injury worsens

, Cardiopulmonary Arrest or Cardiac Arrest - The ineffective contractions of the heart
that cause the stopping of blood circulation throughout the body.
The end of circulated blood will result in the patient falling unconscious due to a lack
of oxygen. Left untreated will result in brain damage.

Heart Attack - When the heart is not receiving enough oxygen and the heart begins
to die.
The patient might undergo pain in the center of the chest, neck, shoulders, jaw, teeth,
or arms, sweating nausea, dizziness, and faintness.

Chest Pain - For patients with chest pain the provider might encourage the patient to
chew on one adult or 2 low doses of aspirin, If the provider is unsure with the
administration of aspirin the patient can be referred to EMS.

Respiratory Arrest - The stopping of oxygen flowing throughout the body. Caused by
the failure of the lungs to deliver oxygen. This will cause the patient to lose
consciousness . Artificial Ventilation treatment is the necessary act to save the
patient]. Call 911 immediately and perform CPR.

Fractures, Bruises, Avulsions, Sprains & Strains
If there are signs of a concussion, broken bones in the neck, head, or back deformed
joints, no pulse, heavily bleeding, and abnormalities of the broken bone such as
piercing the skin call 911 and perform CPR if required.

Fractures
1. Make sure to stop the bleeding by applying pressure to the fracture and wrap
it if necessary
2. Apply splint to the fractured area
3. If the patient appears to be light headed or on the verge on fainting lift the legs
slightly higher than the patient's heart to raise the blood pressure
4. If needed apply a cold cloth or ice to the fracture

Bruises
Bruises are broken blood vessels that leak under the skin.
1. Elevate the injured area
2. Apply an ice pack or cold cloth
3. If needed have the patients take a pain reliever to reduce swelling and pain
