, Strategic HRM
Strategic human resource management (strategic HRM or
SHRM) is a concept that aims to explain what is involved in
ensuring that key issues of human resource management
(HRM) are dealt with strategically.
, Strategic HRM
• ‘The pattern of planned human resource deployments and
activities intended to enable an organisation to achieve its
goals.’ (Wright and McMahan, 1992)
• It is fundamentally about ‘systematically linking people with the
firm.’ Jackson (2007)
• ‘The intentions of the corporation both explicit and covert,
towards the management of its employees, expressed through
philosophies, policies and practices’. (Tyson,1995)
