Sinds de spelen van Nagano in 1998 is aerodynamica een alsmaar grotere rol gaan
vervullen ten aanzien van het schaatsen. Het schaatspak dient gestroomlijnd te zijn en
structuur te hebben, maar er is een bepaald evenwicht van de eerdergenoemde variabelen.
Een golfbal is een goed voorbeeld van evenwicht van aerodynamica en een leidraad
geweest voor het huidige schaatspak (Sportinnovator, 2018).

Vervolgens wordt na jarenlang testen en het verzamelen van data, duidelijk dat het postuur
van de schaatser ook van grote invloed is op de luchtweerstand. De schaatser kan namelijk
door zijn lichaamshouding meer, of minder aerodynamisch zijn en daarvoor biedt het
innovatieve schaatspak uitkomst. Het innovatieve schaatspak geeft trillingen door als de
schaatser een abnormale houding aanneemt. Deze trillingen wordt doorgeven via een
geïntegreerde polsband. Zodoende merkt de schaatser, dat zijn houding aangepast dient te
worden (Bokdam, 2018).
