FUNDAMENTALS OF ELECTRIC CIRCUIT EXAM
QUESTIONS WITH VERIFIED ANSWERS (100%
CORRECT ANSWERS) /ALREADY GRADED A+
Circuit - A path through which electrons may flow. Closed circuit - a
complete and continuous path. Open circuit - an incomplete or broken path.

Voltage Potential - The difference in electric charge between two parts of a
circuit. The difference between the positive and negative charge is voltage
potential. Plumbing analogy: the difference in pressure at two different points in a
system.

Voltage - Potential difference - Volt (V), Plumbing analogy: Pascals of water
pressure difference

Current - Rate of flow - Ampere (A) (or Amp), Plumbing analogy: Liters per
second of flow

Resistance - Resistance to flow - Ohm (Ω), Any device that resists the flow
of electricity, such as a lamp. Plumbing analogy: resistance determined by pipe
size, roughness and liquid viscosity. The inverse of an Ohm (1/Ω) is known as a
mho.

Resistor - Any device that resists the flow of electricity, such as a lamp.
Plumbing: a constriction in a pipe.

Series Circuit - Electrical flow through one element after another.

, Parallel Circuit - Electrical flow along separate paths.

AWG American Wire Gauge - A system for designating wire size. Smaller
numbers mean larger size.

Power - The measure of the capability for accomplishing work. The product
of Voltage and Current.

Short Circuit - A circuit that has a shortened path introduced, usually by
accident.

Direct Current DC - A use of electricity where electrons flow in one
direction over time.

Alternating Current AC - A use of electricity where electrons alternate in
the direction of flow.

High Voltage Direct Current HVDC - A distribution method that atypically
uses direct current.

Switch - A device that is intended to open or close a circuit, usually by
direct intervention of users.

Single Pole, Single Throw SPST switch - The basic on-off switch. It is either
open or closed.
