In my own life, I have observed that communication skills evolve depending on context and audience. At home, for instance, I primarily use informal language, slang, and code-switching with family members. This informal register allows for emotional expression, bonding, and shared understanding. According to Vygotsky (1978), social interaction is fundamental to language acquisition, as meaning is co-constructed through dialogue. Through daily conversations with my parents and siblings, I have internalized vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and conversational cues that are unique to my family setting. Contextual Influence in Education and the Workplace In academic and professional settings, language use becomes more formal and structured. At school, I adapt my communication to reflect academic norms, using precise vocabulary, structured sentences, and coherent arguments when presenting assignments or engaging in classroom discussions (Halliday & Hasan, 1985). Similarly, in the workplace, professional discourse requires clarity, politeness strategies, and technical jargon appropriate to the industry.
