There was, in Asia Minor, a great city, Troy. There lived king Priam. Paris, the son of that man, had captured
Helen, the beautiful Greek woman. Because of that crime many Greeks had come to Asia Minor and they had
waged a bitter war for a long time with the Trojans. However, they had not been able to overcome the walls of
the city. But then Epeus, one of the men from Greece, gave them this plan: “If we make a great wooden horse
and we shall give it to the Trojans, we will be able to conquer them; for indeed we shall have hidden the Greeks
in the horse.”
“You have taught us well,” the Greeks have said and they made this plot without delay. After the war
Aeneas, the Trojan leader, said, “We did not see the troops in the horse; we lead it into the city. Therefore the
Greeks were able to conquer us. The gods had foretold the bad fortune and they had fled out of our city.”
