• Chief Complaint (CC):
"My left knee started hurting two days ago after
I got up from a chair. It’s been swollen and
painful ever since."
• History of Present Illness (HPI):
Douglas Bell is a 57-year-old male who reports
acute onset of left knee pain and swelling that
began 2 days ago. No history of recent trauma or
overuse. He describes the pain as sharp and
constant, rated 7/10. Worse with movement,
, especially going downstairs or bending. No
locking or giving way reported.
• Past Medical History (PMH):
o Hypertension
o Gout (past episode 2 years ago)
o Hyperlipidemia
• Medications:
o Lisinopril 10 mg daily
o Atorvastatin 20 mg daily
o Occasional ibuprofen PRN
• Allergies:
o NKDA
• Social History:
o Drinks alcohol 3–4 times/week
o Diet high in red meat and seafood
o No tobacco or recreational drugs
o Sedentary lifestyle

o Father: history of gout and osteoarthritis
