Meeting the characters: Luisa (10) meeting her fam, her house is small and she lives/works on a
sugar cane farm; Jose lives a very privileged life, his dad is rich, owns a tobacco factory

Luisa's family is going to the hospital to save Lolita the three year old sister- they asked this guy
Rolando for help and he brought them to the hospital and they didnt do anything for her
because she was a new patient - she died; José was at his boarding school very proud of his dad
and his work - gave a presentation on him.
Chapter 3
They're all sad from the death of lolita; Rolando is in jail for hitting the guard; carlos worked for
his boss for a long time; Rolando learned about a new government which was a democracy;
Jose's uncle had wanted to get rid of Batista in power and wanted José to participate.
Chapter 4
Manuel, Carlos, and Rolando were walking with the rebels for days - even though they were
different social classes they were all fighting for the same purpose- they captured all the people
that were representing and fighting for Batista.

Luisa and her mom had no connections or communication with their family fighting, Jose's dad
