South African Politics First Year.
Political Parties and their Ideologies:
Introduction:
This essay will be about three political parties, and their Ideologies. Namely The African National Congress (The ANC), The Democratic Alliance (The DA) and Agang.
It is important to know which ideology is associated with each political party, because it represents their values and beliefs and it makes it clear to all what they want the future to look like, and how they are going to achieve it.
What is an Ideology? According to Oxford dictionary its: “a system of ideas and ideal, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy” (Oxford Dictionaries, 2013). But according to Heywood ideologies are sets of ideas that incorporate a model of a desired future, a vision of the Good Society, and outline of how change can and should be brought about, offer an account of the existing order, usually in the form of a ‘world view’ (2013:28). So in my understanding and ideology is a set of values and beliefs and how does beliefs and values are going to be implemented.
