Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, and
Physiological Integrity.
Safe and Effective Care Environment is further broken down into two
subcategories: Management of Care and Safety and Infection Control.
Likewise, Physiological Integrity is broken down into four subcategories:
Basic Care and Comfort, Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies, Reduction
of Risk Potential, and Physiological Adaptation.
Each question on the NCLEX-RN falls into one of these categories or
subcategories. However, questions, or items , are not divided by type on the
NCLEX-RN. That is, they are not marked by category or subcategory.
