Module 16 Study Questions
1. The gene that determines fur color in mice has two alleles: the black fur allele
(B) and the white fur allele (b). Fill in the table below with the phenotypes that
would match each genotype for each type of inheritance.
Genotype Complete Dominance Incomplete Dominance Codominance
BB BB BB BB
bb bb bb bb
Bb Bb BB or bb Bb
2. The variety of skin color phenotypes observed in the image below are likely a
result of polygenic inheritance. Explain how this type of inheritance can lead to a
range of phenotypes and provide your own example.
They lead to a range because more than 2 genes work together to express these
traits.
And example would be height, you can have a male who is 5’8 and a female that is
5’2... There are different heights their offspring can be due several genes
contributing to a phenotype that has a wide range of selection.
, 3. Many traits are influenced by the environment as well as inherited genetics. How
can a person’s height be affected by both their genes and their interactions with
the environment? How about a person’s hair color?
