Body nutrition deficit occurs when the body does not absorb or get from food the required amount of a certain nutrient. The nutrient requirements of the body depend on age of the individual. A clinical example of this phenomenon is iron deficiency anaemia, a condition in which the body has insufficient red blood cells due to low levels of iron in the body. This leads to low haemoglobin production in the blood. A major symptom of this condition is paleness of the skin and the inside of the lower eyelids, caused by the low haemoglobin levels since it is haemoglobin that gives blood its red colour.
