"Practice of physical therapy" The performance and physical therapy assessments and treatment of any disability, injury, disease, or other health condition of humans or prevention of such. An active or in active licensee who chooses to retire their status must Pay a retired status fear not to exceed $50 and a status change fee if not at the time of renewal. When can a licensee choose to activate an in active license? At any time as long as they meet all of the requirements. Order to renew an active or in active license the individual must Complete the full application before it expires or it becomes delinquent. A person whose license has become delinquent must Apply for active or in active license status by the next cycle or the license becomes null. A null license means they will need to apply in the future as a brand new license seeker and have to pay any delinquency fee and license change fee as applicable. If a person has been in inactive license status for more than two biennial cycles (four years) The board can require a partial test to show competency. If a therapist is in a retired status for more than five years, the board may Request a full retest if they want to become active again. Before reactivation of an in active or retired license, the individual must Meet the requirements of all by annual licensure periods. A change in license status does not alter the right of the board to Impose discipline or enforce discipline that occurred under the previous license status. A person who has been denied renewal may regain licensure if they Apply for and meet all the qualifications for initial licensure. "Unlicensed personnel" An individual working or volunteering in a PT setting, not holding a current PT or PTA license. In an active or retired licensee must do what to reactivate? Pay all fees, show documentation of continuing education compliance, good standing in another state, passed boards. What are the four fees to change and in active or retired license to active status? By any of renewal fee, unlicensed activity fee, reactivation fee, change in status fee. What continuing Ed requirements must keep be completed? 10 continuing education hours per year and the biennium are required. Prevention of medical errors must be two hours. Florida specific law education must be two hours. How many hours of homestudy are allowed per year? Six hours per year, 12 hours per biennium. If a therapist had an inactive license for a period of time, how many continuing education hours are they required to have when applying for active status? 10 continuing education hours per each inactive license year. "Direct supervision" License supervisor is immediately and physically available. "General supervision" The supervision of a physical therapy assistant while accessible by two way communication, available to respond, and within the geographical area. What should a patient safety class entail? Medical documentation and communication, contraindications and indications for physical therapy, pharmacological components of physical therapy. Can the medical errors education course be taken at home? Yes. Each licensee must complete what course by January 1 of 2021? Human trafficking education What should a human trafficking education course cover? It should be a one hour long, include sex trafficking, labor trafficking, how to identify people being trafficked, how to report, resources for victims, signage posting requirements. Can a human trafficking education course be taken at home? Yes. Every person needs how many hours of continuing education every two years? 24 hours. If a therapist is seeking licensure in the second year of a biennium, what is required? HIV/AIDS and medical errors courses only. How many minutes are a contact hour and half an hour? A contact hour is at least 50 minutes and a half an hour is at least 25 minutes. One CE credit is how many hours? 10 contact hours. What are some examples of acceptable CE subjects? Ethics, clinical education, clinical practice, clinical research, clinical management, clinical science, Florida laws, risk management, HIV/AIDS.
