Collins June 26, 2022 Professional Capstone and Practicum Reflective Journal Reflective Journals Summary Week Topic and content Summary Week 1 Culturally sensitive care /Integrity & patient respect in nursing. Nursing and cultural diversity focused on the need for nurses to understand values from different culture to provide the right kind of nursing care to culturally sensitive patients. About integrity and patient respect, I focused on stating that it is essential to be honest with patients and to treat all patients with utmost respect during nursing care. Week 2 New Practice Approaches. Focused on the need for nurses to understand the new changes in healthcare and acquire relevant skills to cope with the changes in healthcare such as new technology. Week 3 Inter-professional collaboration. In the reflection, I addressed the need for nurses to cooperate with other professionals in healthcare to facilitate and promote patient outcomes. Week 4 Health care delivery and clinical systems. This reflection focused on the various types of institutions such as hospitals and diagnostic centers whose main tasks is provision of health care to the society. The institutions play key roles in preventive care and treatment of patients. Week 5 Ethical consideration. In this topic, I addressed the need for adhering to ethics such as integrity, fidelity, non-maleficence and autonomy in healthcare. Week 6 Population Health concerns. In this topic I pointed out some of the health concerns in the US population including excessive alcohol consumption, tobacco smoking, heart diseases and cancer. Week 7 The role of Technology in improving patient outcomes. The topic mainly focused on the benefits of technology in patient outcomes such as facilitating quicker diagnosis, convenience of services, and reduction of cost of care. Week 8 Health Policy. In this topic I focused on how laws and regulations dictate the provision of health care services. I also talked about the need for nurses to understand the relevant guidelines that dictate health care practices. Week 9 Health disparity/Leadership and Economic Models in health care. On the health disparities topic, I focused on the avoidable medical states that affect the marginalized and poor citizens, and how they can be addressed. On leadership and economic models, I focused on how the change in types of health delivery in health care have dictated how health care providers run their facilities to stay competent and profitable. I also captured the aspect of leadership in nursing by stating that health organizations have come up with nursing leadership that focuses on addressing issues that give the organizations and edge in the competitive sector. Week 10 In this week 10, I am going to address nursing leaders and how it integrates with the other topics that I have addressed in the reflective journals.
