Hersengebieden
Basale ganglia: volumecontrole. Versterken of verzwakken motorcommando’s, zorgen voor de juiste
intensiteit van beweging. Sterk beïnvloed door dopamine, geproduceerd in de substantia nigra (in
hersenstam).
Cerebellum: aanleren en onderhouden motorische vaardigheden; activeren spieren voor actie met
juiste timing en nauwkeurigheid; corrigeert motorische programma’s o.b.v. sensorische feedback.
Topografisch georganiseerd: mediaal romp etc., lateraal ledematen. Evenwicht.
Corpus callosum: hersenbalk, maakt communicatie tussen beide hersenhelften mogelijk
Thalamus: doorgeefstation van zintuigelijke informatie. Mediale thalamus is belangrijk voor
consolidatie (samenvoegen van verwante delen) van het geheugen.
Hypothalamus: activeert cortex tijdens autonome arousal. Cortex inhibeert.
Neocortex:
Occipitaalkwab
Verwerking van visuele informatie. Visuele cortex (striate cortex).
- Primaire en secundaire visuele cortex (V1 en V2): Topografische projectie van visuele veld, links
→ rechts, onder → boven en vice versa. Heterogene functie. Cellen gespecialiseerd in codering
van vorm, kleur of beweging. Blobs gaan over kleurperceptie, interblobs gaan over vorm en
bewegingsperceptie. Hierna gaat informatie naar gespecialiseerde projectiegebieden.
• Dorsale route, pariëtale cortex: aansturen van beweging d.m.v. visuele geleiding. Bijv.
grijpen, vangen en ontwijken. Egocentrische ruimtebepaling: bepaling van locatie van
objecten ten opzichte van de waarnemer. (HOE, vision for action)
• Ventrale route, onderste deel temporale cortex: visuele herkenning van objecten
zoals voorwerpen, handen en gezichten. Specifieke reacties van cellen op complexe
objecten → snelle identificatie van object. (WAT, visual recognition)
• Superieure temporele sulcus stroom (STS), cortex bovenste temporale sulcus:
visuospatiële functies. Ruimtelijke lokalisatie van objecten; ruimtelijk geheugen;
perceptie van bepaalde typen bewegingen. Polysensorische neuronen die informatie
uit dorsale en ventrale route combineren. Allocentrische ruimtebepaling: bepaling
van locatie van objecten ten opzichte van elkaar. (WAAR, visual space)
• Frontale cortex: Actief visueel zoekgedrag (action for vision)
• Selectieve visuele aandacht voor de buitenwereld. Pariëtale cortex: visuele geleiding
van bewegingen. Temporale cortex: herkenning van objecten. (visual attention)
