Hoofstuk 46 - Die onmoontlike keuse
Die groenteverkoper, Candon, wie Plank bevriend het, het hom
vertel dat die polisie vir drie Suid Afrikaanse ouens en ‘n Turkse
meisie soek. Hy het Candon se foon geleen om Lisa te bel.
Xander is briesend. Hulle moet uit die land vlug. Almal pak
vinnig toe daar ‘n gehammer op die deur is. Xander maak die
deur na die terras oop vir hulle om van te spring. Hulle land op
die kussings wat hy daaronder gegooi het en hardloop. Xander
sê dat Plank nie saam kan kom nie. Hy het te veel moeilikheid
al veroorsaak: eers die skyfie in sy hand, toe om Lisa te bel en
weer om oor hulle met Candon te praat. Greg wil Plank nie los
nie, maar as hy die Baker wil vang kan hy dit nie sonder Xander
doen nie. Hy gee Plank ‘n druk en sê dat hy met Xander sal praat, maar dat Plank solank ‘n
manier moet kry om hulle in Florence te ontmoet. Die polisie sien hulle en hulle almal hardloop
verder.
Chapter 46 - The impossible decision
The grocer, Candon, whom Plank befriended, told him that the police were looking for three
South African guys and a Turkish girl. He borrowed Candon’s phone to call Lisa. Xander is
furious. They need to leave the country. Everyone packs quickly when there is a banging on the
door. Xander opens the door to the terrace for them to jump from. They land on the pillows he
put down on the ground and run. Xander says that Plank can’t join them. He already caused too
much trouble: first with the card in his hand, calling Lisa, and now that he spoke to Candon
about them. Greg doesn’t want to leave Plank, but he knows that he can’t catch the Baker
without Xander. He gives Plank a hug and tells him that he will talk to Xander and that Plank
needs to find a way to get to Florence. The police see them and they run further.

Hoofstuk 47 - Vlug na Florence
Greg kan nie glo dat hy so gemeen was om Xander en die
Baker oor Plank te kies nie. Hy hoop dat hulle vriendskap sal
hou. Dit herhinner Greg aan die aand toe John dood was. Hy
en sy pa het in die kar bly sit by die hospitaal en sy pa het
gesê dat Greg liewers dood moes gaan. Oppad lughawe toe
sê Ayla dat die mans wie hulle gejaag het nie die polisie was
nie. Hulle neem aan dit was die Baker se manne.
Die hele groepie maak dit op die vliegtuig sonder probleme. Die vlug duur amper drie ure tot in
Rome. Greg wens hy kon die plek toer. Almal is doodmoeg en slaap op die ItaliaRail-trein oppad
Florence toe. Hulle teken in by die Domus Hotel Florentiae en Greg het sy eie kamer. Hy verteer
alles wat in Istanboel gebeur het. Hy het ‘n nagmerrie dat Plank deur die mans wat hulle gejaag
het gevang word.
Xander maak Greg wakker met ‘n nuwe skootrekenaar. Die Trojan het gewerk. Hulle het toegang
tot die Baker se rekenaar gekry.
Chapter 47 - Flight to Florence
Greg can’t believe that he chose Xander and the Baker over Plank. He hopes that their friendship
will last. It reminds Greg of when John died. His dad and he stayed in the car for a while at the
hospital. His dad told Greg that he should have died instead. Ayla says that the men who chased
them weren’t the police.
The whole group gets onto the plane without issues. The flight to Rome takes just under three
hours. Greg wishes he could travel around the city. Everyone is dead tired and sleeps on the
ItaliaRail train to Florence. They check in at the Domus Hotel Florentiae and Greg has his own
room. He digests everything that happened in Istanbul. He has a nightmare that Plank gets
caught by the men who chased them.
Xander woke Greg up with a new laptop. The Trojan worked. They have access to the Baker’s
computer.
