to: the communities at large
date: 07 may 2022
Dear Community Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address the concerns raised by our
community regarding the poor state of the R30 highway, which has resulted in an
alarming number of road accidents and fatalities. The Bodikela municipality acknowledges
the gravity of the situation and extends its deepest condolences to the families who have
lost their loved ones on the R30. We also offer words of comfort to those who have been
injured or traumatized by these unfortunate accidents involving their vehicles.
I want to assure you that the relevant authorities within the municipality have been
working tirelessly to address these issues and provide assistance with all relevant claims.
We are collaborating closely with the Road Fund Claims and car insurance companies to
ensure a smooth process and to avoid any unnecessary delays.
I am pleased to inform you that the management council of the Bodikela municipality has
approved a budget of R10 million specifically allocated for the repair of potholes on the
R30 highway. The repair work is scheduled to commence on 01 June 2023 and is expected
to be completed by 29 June 2023, spanning a period of four weeks (1 month). During this
time, the road will be partially closed to facilitate the repairs. I kindly request members of
the community to utilize alternative routes whenever possible.
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic for those unable to use alternative roads, the Bodikela
Metropolice Department will be actively involved in visibly policing and managing traffic
every morning and afternoon throughout the four-week repair period.
We understand the importance of effective communication, and the municipality is
committed to keeping you informed. Updates and further information regarding the
repairs will be communicated through community radio stations, local newspapers, and
SMS messages. We aim to reach as many community members as possible through these
channels.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
You can reach the municipality at or by calling 2771340950.
Our offices are located at Shutter Office Suite, Room 1, Executive Suites, Bodikela, 1190.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this critical repair process.
Together, we can create a safer and more reliable road network for our community.
Warm regards,
Nontsikelelo Sibanyoni
