Comparison of the Myth of the Latin Woman and Just Walk On Racial discrimination in the world has always been an issue that most people from ethnic communities have to deal with, especially in the developed nations. Many stereotypes have come up in society regarding people from minority communities. "The Myth of the Latin Woman" and Just Walk On are essays written by People from two different ethnic communities attempting to shed light on issues and challenges they face on a day-to-day basis. The two authors write to address the stereotypes labeled to them by society. Judith Ortiz Cofer wrote the Myth of the Latin Woman as a reflection of her cultural identity as a Latin American woman in her work. On the other hand, "Just Walk On" is written by Brent Staples, who talks about how his mere presence is enough to scare people, particularly women, in the streets at night. Although the two stories are similar in that both are prejudged based on their race and their dressing, however, they differ on the fact that one is sexually desirable while the other is viewed as a sex offender and people are Cofer is generally desirable to people while the opposite is true for Staples.
