Describe some of the more common pathophysiological changes and abnormal findings associated with musculoskeletal, metabolic, and multisystem health dysfunctions. Explain what symptoms are associated with the findings and how these affect patient function. Musculoskeletal The common changes, or abnormal findings within the musculoskeletal system occurs from injury, inflammatory diseases, non-inflammatory disorders, tumors, aging, or prolonged bedrest (Falkner, & Green, 2018). Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and fractures are some abnormal findings, especially in the obese, and older population (Falkner, et al., 2018). Pain is most often the first symptom, especially for a break or injury, and further tests such as imaging is conducted to determine the diagnosis. Some of these diseases are chronic, and prolonging, so over time these patients start to lose their mobility function where it is affected, commonly the hands for rheumatoid arthritis (Falkner, 2018).
