DNP 801 Topic 1 DQ 2 The DNP PI Workspace is a critical resource for DNP students. It contains essential resources for this course and valuable guidance tools for successfully completing your DPI projects. Navigate the DNP PI Workspace, Student Success Center, and the Guidelines for Graduate Field Experiences. After reviewing the above resources, answer the following: 1. What information within the Guidelines for Graduate Field Experiences, DNP PI Workspace, and Student Success Center is the most helpful for this course and the completion of your DPI project? Why? 2. Review the "DNP Direct Practice Improvement Project Recommendation PowerPoint" found in the course materials. Discuss a potential topic for your project in a brief paragraph. Consider the PICOT reminder slide when selecting your potential topic. 1. What information within the Guidelines for Graduate Field Experiences, DNP PI Workspace, and Student Success Center is the most helpful for this course and the completion of your DPI project? Why? • After reviewing the above, I found the Guidelines for Graduate Field Experiences to be helpful by detailing the expected hours and how we are to obtain those hours which are necessary for each course (Grand Canyon University, 2015). • I found the DNP PI Workspace to be valuable in detailing what is expected of me, specially, in each of our classes as it relates to my DNP project. I was reminded of the need to perform a comprehensive compare and contrast matrix as well as formulate a PICOT question. Additionally, I will need to identify gaps pertinent to my DNP project (Grand Canyon University, 2018). • The Student Success Center is, as always, a huge resource to myself and other students. Of particular interest I find the help editing and citing resources to be a fantastic opportunity for me to use a free resource from GCU (Grand Canyon University, 2018). 2. Review the "DNP Direct Practice Improvement Project Recommendation PowerPoint" found in the course materials. Discuss a potential topic for your project in a brief paragraph. Consider the PICOT reminder slide when selecting your potential topic. • Having shifted gears a couple of years ago to accommodate my being able to teach and to fulfill my desire to find a work-life balance, I moved from one local hospital system to another. An area that has continued to trouble me since switching hospital systems is our response time to acute strokes. I know we have room for improvement which means improved patient outcomes. • PICOT (PICOT, 2018) • Population/Patient Problem: acute stroke patients not receiving prompt IR treatment. • Intervention: research EB, existing models used in successful stroke centers and implement one. • Comparison: continue doing what we are doing which means delay in care. • Outcome: improved stroke to IR time and improved patient outcomes
