, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ASSIGNMENT CONTAINS ONLY ONE TOPIC

Topic one Instruction: Using research, discuss TWO (2) positive and TWO (2)
negative effects of how technology use in education affects students’ learning. Your
response should include a minimum of FIVE (5) credible sources.

Research suggests that online learning has been shown to increase retention of
information, and take less time, meaning the changes coronavirus have caused
might be here to stay. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the
distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on
digital platforms. Technology refers to methods, systems, and devices which are
the result of scientific knowledge being used for practical purposes. The main aim
of technology is to meet a human need or solve a human problem. This research
essay will focus on negative effects, positive effects of technology in education and
conclude with suggesting the solutions of technology in education.

Technology makes students waste their time on using their electronic gadgets
rather than studying. Based on the study by Glass and Kang (2018), published in
the journal Educational Psychology, allowing students to use smartphones and
other gadgets during lectures didn’t make students’ learning lower than before, but
they did get a score at least 5% lower in the end-of-term exam, likewise the
students who didn’t use it because they are distracted by the surrounding activity.
In fact, number of adolescents’ reading is dropping instead of using print media,
such as books, newspaper and magazines, they make use of social media; that’s
why the rate of Internet usage has increased by 75% for grade 10 students and
68% in all grades.
