In the United States, women have a 12.4% lifetime risk of being diagnosed with the condition (American Cancer Society, 2017). One of the most afflicted ethnic groups is non-Hispanic black women. Breast cancer incidence and death rates before the age of 40 are higher for non-Hispanic black women more than any other ethnic group (American Cancer Society, 2017). Therefore, building and maintaining a comprehensive breast cancer database is essential since this centralized repository for data helps clinicians and researchers understand more about the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment for cancer. When building the database, it is important to find and organize the information required.
