AFL 1501 ASSIGNMENT 2 SEMESTER 2 Vanessa Carles – Student Number: AFL 1501– Unique number: How do you see yourself when you look in the mirror? And no I am not talking about the glass mirror that you look in every morning before leaving the house or the one that you get dressed in front and then stand and evaluate how you look before leaving the house. Not the one that reflects the mask you put on before facing the world every day. This mirror can be a major source of self-criticism and self-doubt simply because this is not the “real” you. How you look on the outside does not define you, having long blonde hair, blue eyes, dimples, with a slim figure that dresses well is not who you are. I am talking about the mirror of authenticity, the mirror of your soul. This mirror shows the reflection of yourself when you feel nobody is looking. Your soul does not reflect the person that gets ready and puts on the mask they feel others want to see. This mirror’s reflection never hides, it never lies and it is your true self. We are so fearful to glimpse into this mirror as we might not like what we see, we are not sure if we will be good enough. But we should never fear self-reflection, instead by looking into this mirror of self-reflection and selfawareness, we should embrace it as a way of digging deeper and getting to know our unique and true self.
