The responsibility of the training and development manager is to manage the training
and development function in such a way that achieves the set objectives. It must,
however, be noted that all managers should accept personal responsibility for the
training and development of their direct reports. Traditionally, managing implies
planning, organising, leading, and controlling the training function. The training and
development department is normally a sub department of the HR department.
Planning involves those activities of management that determine the mission and
goals of an organisation in other words, planning determines the direction an
organisation must follow to accomplish goals.
Sarah Mnguni as the training and development manager and she is responsible for the
following training activities:
1. Selecting suitable trainers for the training programmes.
Selecting suitable trainers for the training programmes is part of organising as
management must deploy people, equipment, finances and other resources to achieve
its goals.
2. Planning the training budget for Ndhlovu Farms for the subsequent year.
Planning the training budget for Ndhlovu Farms for the subsequent year is part of
organising not part of planning a it invloves putting together resources that can be
used to achieve the set goals.
3. Determining whether the outcomes of training programmes were achieved.
