AQA COMBINED SCIENCE Biology 1H Higher TRILOGY (9-1) 2021 Paper 1 With full mark answers and explanation
Figure 1 shows four different types of cell. Figure 1 01.1 Which cell is a plant cell? Give one reason for your answer. [2 marks] Cell D Reason • has chloroplasts • has a large vacuole Plant Cells Animal Cells Cell wall present No cell wall present Chloroplast present No chloroplasts present Large permanent vacuole present No permanent vacuole present 01.2 Which cell is an animal cell? Give one reason for your answer. [2 marks] Cell B Reason does not have a cell wall 01.3 Which cell is a prokaryotic cell? Give one reason for your answer. [2 marks] Cell C Reason genetic material is not in a nucleus has a single loop of DNA Bacteria It is believed that some bacteria are the oldest forms of life. A bacterial cell contains cytoplasm, cell membrane and cell wall. There is no obvious nucleus, only a single loop of DNA. Bacteria reproduce by dividing in two to form clones. 01.4 A scientist observed a cell using an electron microscope. The size of the image was 25 mm. The magnification was 100 000 Calculate the real size of the cell. Use the equation: Give your answer in micrometres. [3 marks] 25 / 100 000 = 0.00025 conversion 0.00025 x1000= 0.25 (µm) Real size = 0.25 (µm) micrometres magnification = size of image / size of real object size of real object= size of image/magnification size of image= magnification X size of real object convert mm in µm 0.18mm X 1000= 180 µm
