MNP3702 ASSIGNMENT 3
1. A suitable distribution channel for pharmaceutical companies involved in Health ATMs is a Direct channel where they provide a service without involving a middleman. This will help to reach customers in a way that will be seamless and convenient to patients. The government & pharmaceuticals can use this channel to ensure that they remove friction and patients don’t have to wake up in the early hours to queue up to get their repeat medication. It is important that the chosen channel is short or direct to help make products available to end consumers and offer them convenience. The distribution channel will bridge the gap between producers or manufactures of a product and the end user. 2. The influence of technology The ways in which medications are prescribed, dispensed, and administered is rapidly changing and technology is offering convenience to patients, as a result medication can be dispensed quicker. The use of cloud-based electronic software and robotic technology to dispense medication has led to a need for fewer employees and a saving for both pharmaceuticals and the Department of Health. The introduction of technology has improved patient safety and ensuring that it is always a key focus. Through automated dispensing machines/ robotics, medication distribution systems that provide computer-controlled storage, dispensing, and tracking of medication is seen as a potential mechanism to improve efficiency and patient safety. Technology has without a doubt ensured that these machines can enhance the efficiency of medication distribution and reduce medication errors. Automated dispensing machines offers the department the capability to track and proactively monitor usage patterns that has shown an improvement on adherence by patients. Examples: As a result of technology, service & access to medication has improved, and the department of health can offer faster and better service quality to the community of Alexander. SCOR model is a process that helps integrate operations of supply chain members by linking delivery operations of the seller, to the sourcing operations of the buyer. The model describes the business processes required to satisfy a customer’s demands. It also helps to explain the processes along the entire supply chain and provides a basis for how to improve those processes (Wisner, 2016) SCOR six process categories: Plan: Demand and supply planning and management are included in this first step. The plan includes determining business rules to improve and measure supply chain efficiency. The rules include inventory, transportation, assets, and regulatory compliance. The plan also aligns the supply chain plan with the financial plan of the company to maintain profitability. Source: This step describes sourcing infrastructure and material acquisition. It describes how to manage inventory, the supplier network, supplier agreements, and supplier performance. It discusses how to handle supplier payments and when to receive, verify, and transfer product Make Manufacturing and production are the emphasis of this step. Is the manufacturing process make-to-order, make-to-stock, or engineer-to-order? The make step includes, production activities, packaging, staging product, and releasing. It also includes managing the production network, equipment and facilities, and transportation. Deliver: This process includes order management, warehousing, and transportation. It also includes receiving orders from customers and invoicing them once product has been received. This step involves management of finished inventories, assets, transportation, product life cycles, and importing and exporting requirements This study source was downloaded by from CourseH on :49:11 GMT -05:00 This study resource was shared via CourseH Return: Companies must be prepared to handle the return of containers, packaging, or defective product.
