Capstone – Task 2 | New 2026/2027
Update (Graded A+)
Executive Summary
Summary of the opportunity
Provider credentialing within a healthcare organization faces many obstacles. Our current
process includes a paper application that the medical staff office processes. Feedback from
physicians has described the current process as lengthy, overwhelming, and burdensome. To
streamline physicians' credentialing process while still maintaining the required standards, we
have elected to install new credentialing software to assist in pre-filling applications, obtaining
verifications, and keeping records current.
Internal stakeholders

Internal stakeholder involvement
Each stakeholder has a role to play in implementing, deploying, and sustaining a new
credentialing process. As the hospital project manager, my part is to create an implementation
plan and partner with the internal stakeholders to ensure proper implementation. I will also
collect all the results and data for the final report out to the hospital executives.
The medical staff office manager and coordinator's role is to process the credentialing
applications. The medical staff office manager will also be involved in creating buy-in with the
coordinators, coaching, and reporting to monitor and sustain the change.
The Chief of Medicine and department chairs give final approval on the completed files. They
will be required to use the new credentialing system in the new process for approving files. The
Chief of Medicine will assist in creating buy-in for the new strategy for the department chairs.
The IT department's role is to assist in the software and computer upgrades. They will also
offer essential technical support for the new software and be the liaison between the hospital
and the credentialing software company.
The recruiting department's role is to submit physician information in the credentialing
software to begin the process. They will be required to use the new credentialing system as part
of their process.
