Complaint (CC)"I have lower abdominal pain and vaginal
spotting."History of Present Illness (HPI)The patient is a 30-year-old
female who presents to the emergency department with complaints of
lower abdominal pain and vaginal spotting for the past 2 days. The pain
is described as crampy and sharp at times, localized to the lower
abdomen, and rated 6/10 in severity. The pain is intermittent and has
gradually worsened. She reports associated light vaginal spotting that is
not consistent with her normal menstrual flow.
The patient reports her last menstrual period (LMP) was approximately
6 weeks ago. She is sexually active with one male partner and reports
inconsistent use of contraception. She denies passage of clots or tissue.
She reports mild nausea but denies vomiting, fever, chills, dysuria,
urinary frequency, or vaginal discharge. She denies recent trauma.
No prior similar episodes. No relief with over-the-counter
