Through my research I explored the positive and negative representations of the LGBT community and couples in the media, focusing on music videos, with the final objective of creating a music video featuring a LGBT couple. By referencing the music videos ‘Same Love’ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and ‘Take me to Church’ by Hozier, as well as investigating the historical and social context of homosexuality, with of focus of it in the media.

For my coursework I created a trailer and a film poster within the conventions of the horror genre. As part of my research, I analysed some published film posters. The three that I focused on, were for: Scream, The Uninvited and Drag me to Hell. This essay looks into these three; either the posters or trailers, and explores the conventional codes of horror. A grade.

An investigation into music video conventions to aid my filming and editing of the acoustic track, ‘She’, by Dodie Clark to create a video focusing on LBGTQ couples. Theorist, Burton suggests acoustic music videos differ from other genres through a “process of repetition and recognition” of genres. An analysis of how I edited/ created the video.
