Opening the application and files
Opening Hugin
Click on the Start button then select All > open the Hugin folder and click on Hugin
– panorama editor or
Click on the Hugin – panorama editor icon if a shortcut has been placed on the
desktop.
Loading images to form the panorama
If the Tip of the day box appears click the Close button.
Click on Edit on the menu bar then select and click on Add Image...,
click on the Add Images… button in the Lens type section or
click on the Add image… icon in the toolbar below the menu bar.
Use the dialogue box to select the files you want to open and click the Open button
once selected.
Create control points.
The control points are points that appear in two overlapping images and are used when
merging the images into a panorama.
Click on the Create control points button in the Feature Matching section.
Click on the OK button in the dialogue box that appears.
Optimizing the control points
Click on Edit on the menu bar then select and click on Optimise Ctrl + T,
click on the Calculate button next to the Geometric: drop down menu in the
Optimise section or
click on the Re-optimise icon in the toolbar below the menu bar.
Click on the Yes button in the dialogue box that appears.
Photometric optimization
Select the relevant optimization required from the Photometric: drop down menu in
the Optimise section.
Click on the Calculate button next to the Photometric: drop down menu in the
Optimise section.
Click on the Yes button in the dialogue box that appears.
Previewing the panorama
Click on View on the menu bar then select and click on Panorama preview window
Ctrl + P or
click on the Preview panorama icon in the toolbar below the menu bar.
The preview window then appears.
Adjustments to the panorama in the preview window
By clicking on the tools in the toolbar at the top of the panorama preview window the
panorama can be adjusted to improve it. The tool icons should be clicked on working from
left to right. They are:
Centre – centres the panorama
Fit - fits the panorama in the canvas
Straighten – straightens the panorama
