Unit 11 assignment 4

Potential future development:

Development in technology

Development in new technology are expected to continue due to cruise trying to pioneer the latest
gadgets to stay on top of the cruise industry. With company's trying to out compete each other in
technology creates a lot of new developments that can attract tourists to going on new ships. New
developments in technology can include things like new activity's and improved older activity's so they
are more modern and have more tech involved.

Negatives to new technology developments is that people will become dependent on new technology
and do less of the none technology-based activities. As well it is bad for the environment as they are
using more electricity and polluting the air and sea around the ship, if there is continual air pollution in
the same area then it kills the wildlife and planet around. As well the older generation might not feel as
commutable to go on a cruise that has too much technology on that they don’t understand, this means
organizations lose out on a group of customers and profits.

Positives of new technology developments can include people having to do less work and technology
being able to replace some jobs as its easier and cheaper to do and you would have no human errors. As
well it makes the younger generation who know a lot about technology will want to go on the cruise as
they like technology and will enjoy it more than a normal cruise. Technology on bored cruises has
started to customize the experience that customers want, which differentiates cruises allowing them to
be ahead in the interesting game. As well as that technology personalize data on a cruise has benefits
that can help with the healt an safety of passengers, dietary requirements, embarkation and
debarkation, information distribution, on the fly excursion planning, excursion and activity marketing,
onboard social media and event management.

Larger ships and more facilities

Larger ships are becoming more frequent for cruises, on these big ships there are more facilities
available for use. Having more big ships available allows the owners to build more facilities that
accommodates more types of people meaning they can attract different types of people. Having smaller
ships reduce the profit the company make so the organizations make bigger ships to increase their profit
whilst not considering the impacts on the environment.

Based on current trends ships will keep increasing in size and facilities to maximize the amount of
people they the ship can hold.

Negatives of having bigger ships includes having air pollution, Air pollution is the most prominent effect
of marine transportation. Having bigger cruise ships means that they produce more air pollution into the
water and surrounding areas, stopping at ports is one of the biggest causes of pollutions as they ship sit
running and polluting the area in the same place and no spreading the fumes out. To reduce these
problems marine organizations must find new shore to ship powering sources and improve ocean-based
energy. With big ships they can become crowded if there's a lot of people on board, passengers could
