NR 451 Week 3 Discussion: Feasibility of Your Design Proposal and Importance of
Communication
Now that you have identified your capstone change project, it is time to look its feasibility.
What tangible and intangible resources will be needed to implement your project?
What improved outcomes do you anticipate will occur that could indicate the
project produced a successful return on investment (ROI) of these resources?
How will you communicate your plan for change with key decision makers so that
they will support the allocation of the resources you are seeking?
Answer:
My capstone change project is based on the prevention of surgical site infections ,the
readmission rate for infection is high and can be lethal for patients ,the focus would be on
reduction of surgical site infections by thirty percent in a six month period . Six randomized,
controlled trials involving a total of 10,007 patients were examined in a 2007 Cochrane
Database review regarding preoperative bathing with skin antiseptics to prevent SSI and
Chlorhexidine gluconate was proven to decrease incidence of infections compared to no
antiseptic use .( Webster J, Osborne S.).
Some tangible resources to the project success would be the choice of products used .
The antiseptic agent to be used Betasept and should be of four percent concentration due to
evidence suggesting that it’s the most effective concentration to reduce amount of
microorganisms and non-toxicity .(WHO 2010)
