-Societies are held together by values and norms
-socialisation is the passing on of culture.
-This process makes people apart of a social culture by learning languages, eating food,
knowledge, customs…

Agents of socialisation

-Primary socialisation-

-age 0-5
-takes place in family
-rewarded for socially accepted behaviour and punished for ‘bad’ behaviour

-for example, we might learn the norm of saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’
-for example, we learn traditions and festivals such as Burns Night or Christmas in Scotland.
-for example, we learn the values of society such as free speech.
