UNIT 13: P1

The relationship tour operators have with trade and regulatory bodies
Most tour operators work alongside ancillary services, travel agents, transport providers
and accommodation whom are linked with trade and regulatory bodies. An example of
trade bodies is AITO who represent over 120 of Britain’s tour operators. These members
also specialise in the types of holidays and destinations. Another trade body is ABTA; this
body is the UK’s leading travel association whom have been around for over 60 years.
Their main objective is to help employees expand their business. ETOA these members
are trade leading associations for European destination and their business suppliers for
operation

Regulatory bodies are there to ensure customers that their tour operators are efficient and
safe. These are the CAA, their main objective is to make sure that their performance and
safety is at its highest. Their main ambition is to improve value and choice for customers.
Another regulatory body is FCO; whom advertise the UK’s tourist boards, they have three
main management services that they cover which is building the UK’s prosperity by
increasing exports and investments, safe guarding the UK’s national security and
supporting British nations around the world. Lastly HSE who provide regulatory framework

Transport

Tour operators bring about discussion agreements with transport providers such as
airlines, coaches and many other transport providers. They do this so that its easier
for guests to commute around easily and having a trusting service. Most of the time,
transport is provided for customers who have package holidays by their tour
operator.

Accommodation

Accommodation and hotel providers are able to trade with tour operators so that
they’re able to sell package holidays to their customers. Accommodation providers
compromise allocations of bed room space that form the accommodation element to
package holidays
