Unit 12 - Assignment 1
Investigate different types of diseases and infections that can affect all humans.
Pathogens table:
Name of Pathogen: Bacteria

pathogen
This virus enters the body by food, drink, and aerosols.
Once inside the body, the bacterium travels via the blood

movement, and the pili attach to the cell's surface. The
cell wall is necessary for the cell's structure and form.
Inside the cell wall lies a plasma membrane that controls
what enters and leaves the cell.
Name a disease they cause Tuberculosis.
Describe the life cycle of the
pathogen

a human. How do they infect
us? Once within the cell, the bacteria will begin to multiply
quickly, disrupting the cell's activities. Toxins produced
by the bacterium will then be released into this cell,
paralysing, or damaging the body's metabolism or
generating a toxic immunological reaction. Commented [SC2]: This provides limited scientific
information of how the pathogen affects the body system
invades. You need to expand this considerably to give
specific details and a detailed discussion.

Viruses
Name of Pathogen:
, Labelled diagram of the
pathogen
Viruses are made up of DNA or RNA, both of which
contain genetic information and are coated with protein.
Once infected, viruses invade the body's host cells and
proliferate using the host cells' components, resulting in
Main features of the even more viruses. When the freshly generated viruses
pathogen have finished multiplying, they are discharged from the
host cell, causing the infected cells to be harmed or
killed. Viruses typically remain dormant for a lengthy
period of time before beginning proliferation. This will
make someone who feels they have recovered from the
illness unwell once more. Antibiotics are useless in
treating viral illnesses because they cannot kill viruses.
However, antiviral medicine may be provided depending
on the infection.
Common cold
Name a disease they cause Chickenpox
Meningitis
