In some questions, you will be asked to comment on the tone used by the writer.
In order to prepare for this, it makes sense to memorise a word bank of options, e.g.:

HOW TO ANSWER: Tone Questions
Step 1: State whether the tone is positive or negative.
Step 2: Narrow it down to a more specific tone
Step 3: Quote the words which led you to that opinion and explain how they are that tone.
You can use Tone in many questions. If you are struggling to comment on word choice,
imagery, sentence structure, could you mention what tone is being used in your selected
quote? Comment on tone counts as analysis.
