BUSINESS INTRODUCTION
The Oval Fish Bar in Sidcup is a local fish and chip shop that also offer a wide range
of different flavorsome foods such as southern fried chicken made using a special
family recipe, potato wedges, pies and gourmet burgers. This ensures that they are
not limiting themselves to just specialising in fish and therefore catering for other
customer preferences to increase revenue. It isn't uncommon for a fish and chip
shop to provide other food options and consequently if The Oval fish bar didn't offer
this they would be putting themselves at a disadvantage from other competitors. It
offers home deliveries via Just Eat as well as utilising different promotional
strategies such as lower prices for senior citizens and meal deal options.
Harvey opened The Oval fish bar in 1998 ,23 years ago, and soon after Sam, who
cooks the majority of what they have to offer joined the organisation. This continuity
helps to give it a very homely and friendly atmosphere which is appreciated by
customers and is therefore a selling point for the shop.

for consumers, which means it was made to receive profit. There are four types of
ownership, sole trader, partnership, private limited companies and public limited

business gets into any debt but it also means the owner has more control over his
business as there are less structural compliance regulations he would need to
