The composition if HR within an organisation is a determination of how an organization performs and how competent it is. It is a high standard that helps organisations such as Tesco to strive to maintain competitive recruitment and to obtain, maintain and retain competent staff Tesco is a multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer that was established in 1919 by Jack Cohen. Tesco is a Public Limited Company (PLC), whose headquarters are in Hertfordshire, England. (1) Tesco’s employs over 450,000 people alongside having over 6800 stores. Tesco is UK supermarket leader in the supermarket industry with a 27% ownership (2) as well as being the 9th largest retailer in the world (3),but this has started to decline due to the rise of Aldi and Lidl. Tesco’s slogan is “every little helps”. Over the 25 years that they have used to advertise on a regular basis, this slogan has stayed the same. This is because it implies to the customer that they will save as much money as they can whist getting the best price for their products. Tesco targets customers who get a middle income with younger children, but they also have their own lines such as Tesco Value which is aimed at lower income families or Tesco’s Finest which is aimed at families with a higher income or people who like luxury products. Tesco has many departments which are home shopping, grocery shopping, petrol stations, finance, logistics, telecoms and clothing.
