1) Op soortniveau: optelsom alle soorten in bepaald gebied
- Monoculturen nadelig  weinig biodiversiteit want beperkte
levensgemeenschap
 beperkte aantrekking planeteneters / predators + weinig variatie
voedselkeuze / nestgelegenheid / bescherming
- Chemische bestrijdingsmiddelen
 gebruik van pesticiden / herbiciden / fungiciden
 tast andere planten / insecten aan buiten de zone
 vergiftigde prooidieren en kan zelfs effect hebben op toppredators

2) Op genetisch niveau: optelsom verschillen tussen genen
- Erfelijke kenmerken worden doorgegeven via DNA; genetische
diversiteit (= verscheidenheid aan genen binnen elke soort)
- Meer genetische diversiteit (bv. planten / huisdieren)  gewenste
eigenschappen doorgeven + verbeteren
