P2 Outline the purpose of networking tools
Networking tools are essential tools used to manage network. The purpose of these
networking tools are faults and performance management. Networking tools monitor and
identify network performance as well as fix faults in order network to work efficient.
The fault management tools are used to identify faults in network and provide information
about the faults through reporting to specific components on the network and using that
faults report to carry out solution on specific network components. The main purpose of fault
management tools is to identify network errors on specific network.
The performance management tools are used to monitor the network to meet users need as
outlined agreement that determine the expectations of network performance. These are
used to looks for errors and problem solving.

The following are the networking management tools and the purposes:
Wireshark

Wireshark is a networking packet tracer and analyser. The main purpose of Wireshark is to
solve any networking issues and analyse the networks. It intercepts network traffic from
Wireless (IEEE.802.11), Ethernet, Token Ring, Frame Relay connections, Bluetooth and
converts them into human readable format. It helps user by making it easy to identify the
network traffic such as what traffic is crossing, how frequently its crossing, how much of it
and how much latency. Wireshark filters the log before the starts or during analysis, so users
can narrow down into what they are looking for in the network trace. For example, set a
filter to see TCP traffic between two IP addresses and set it only to show the packets sent
from one computer. The filters are the reasons it became the standard tool for packet
analysis.

, Cisco Works
Cisco Works is a set of networking management tools that simplifies the number of tasks
when cisco network is used. The purpose of the tool is that it sets up the network monitors
the network, perform administration tasks and solve any issues. It uses the centralized
system of information to track and monitor the network system as well as troubleshoot any
problems that arise and deal with it instantly.

HP OpenView
HP Open View is a performance management tools that is created by Hewlett Packard to
help IT professionals to manage the device availability, system performance applications,
program maintenance, network conditions and status, storage resources and manage
services. HP Open View is a part of HP software division and the main purpose of the tool is
to monitor networks and compare performance and faults of a system and identify the cause
of the specific issue from the information.

Ping

Ping is a networking tool that is used to test IP networks. The purpose of Ping to measure
the length of time requires for the data packets to be sent from the local host to a
destination and back. The tool records and measures the round-trip time of the data packet.
However, it helps users to find networks errors and it can be used to find out if a PC is
connected to the internet or a specific webpage have issues. Ping is used to test if a host is
reachable across an IP network. It records and measures the trip time of the packet and
losses, Ping tests basic connectivity of IP addresses and connectivity of domains. To use Ping
Click on the Start Menu and in the search bar, type 'cmd', and press Enter.
