Teacher - Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. For today’s class, we
will be reading a very interesting text, “What made me the way I am?” and then we will do a group
activity to grasp a better understanding of the text. Please get into 3 teams of 6 group members so
that we can begin. While students form their group, I will turn on the PowerPoint slide show. Now
please take a look at the PowerPoint slide show and see if you can describe any three pictures. You
have 4.5 minutes to discuss this with your group.
After 4.5 minutes:
Teacher – Your time is up now. Please explain what you have discussed with your group.
Student answers might be:
Team 1 Summer Solstice - Students might describe the picture as people are happy and dancing.
Protest - Students might describe the picture as people are holding banners and
standing on the streets.

Convoy - Students might describe the picture as a person standing outside of a
bus.
Team 2 Juggle - Students might describe the picture as a girl playing with balls.
Diplomat - Students might describe the picture as a woman shaking hands with a

deciding.
Team 3 Enterprise - Students might describe the picture as people sitting together using
Mining Village gadgets.

New Age Travellers - Students might describe the picture as an old town.
- Students might describe the picture as there are lots of buses.

Teacher - Wonderful answers! Now I will use the eliciting, drilling, and defining technique and will
teach my students the 12 vocabulary words. Specifically, I will put more emphasis on three
vocabulary words and will ask my students concept check questions for their better understanding.
1. I will show them a picture of a vocabulary word Hostile.
T – What do you see in this picture?
S – There is two men in this picture.
T – Good start! What is the man doing?
S – One man is screaming at the other man.
T – That’s correct! How does the other man look?
S – The other man looks scared.
T – Good! What kind of behaviour is a screaming man showing?
S – He is showing very bad behaviour.
T – That’s right! How would you describe his bad behaviour?
