PAPER: Principles of Product Design. All Assessment Questions & Mark Scheme [OCR H006/01]
Exam Resource Summary
The AS Level Design and Technology: Product Design June 2025 Principles of Product Design Paper
(OCR H006/01) provides a complete, integrated resource combining the official examination paper with
its detailed mark scheme. This paper assesses students’ foundational understanding of design principles,
materials, manufacturing methods, product analysis, user-centered design, sustainability, and the social,
moral, and environmental factors influencing product development. Candidates must apply technical
knowledge, analyse product scenarios, interpret data, and justify design decisions using appropriate
terminology. The merged mark scheme clarifies examiner expectations—highlighting the required depth
of explanation, accuracy of technical detail, and the evaluative skills needed for higher-band marks. By
presenting each question alongside its marking criteria, this resource supports targeted revision,
strengthens conceptual understanding, and helps learners develop clear, well-structured responses. This
integrated format prepares students thoroughly for the May/June 2026 OCR AS Level Principles of
Product Design examination.

1 Table tennis is a sport in which players use a bat to hit a ball back and forth over a net at the
centre of a table.
Portable retractable nets have recently been developed for users to access the sport more easily
as they can be attached to any table.
